The party scene
Bangla Road in Patong is the heart - a closed-to-traffic strip packed with bars and the big clubs (Illuzion, Tiger). Paradise Beach runs daytime beach parties. Patong is the loud base; Kata and Karon nearby are calmer if you want to dip in and out.
When to go
The dry, cool season November - April is the comfortable peak (and the safest sea); the May - October monsoon is wetter and cheaper, with nightlife unaffected.
